Medequip has unparalleled expertise in managing community loan stores on behalf of social services, NHS health authorities and national charities. We excel at the timely provision of equipment and adaptations for the elderly, the infirm and patients being discharged from hospital, promoting independence and the ability to remain at home.
Our mission is to enhance care delivery, patient independence and rehabilitation effectiveness by combining appropriate equipment and outstanding service in the community care and homecare equipment settings.
We manage the whole of the community loan store process on behalf of our social service and NHS clients, including sourcing, procurement, storage, delivery, installation, collection, decontamination, servicing and recycling of equipment. In doing so we focus on a number of key elements:
- The cost effective management of equipment, adaptations and aids for daily living (ADLs).
- The recruitment and training of a skilled and stable workforce.
- Treating the client/patient with dignity and respect, and the provision of the highest possible level of customer service.
- Development and implementation of systems to allow therapists and nurses to easily define and order the right equipment, freeing up more of their time to focus on the quality of care.
- Provision of a fully integrated service across social services, NHS health and wheelchair services (also known as ICES - Integrated Community Equipment Stores).
- Provision of robust financial data allowing budget holders to accurately manage and plan their budgets.
- Generation of detailed performance reports against agreed KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), allowing Commissioners to assess how well Medequip is delivering the service and helping them to accurately report against their own targets.
Medequip can do this because we are specialists in the field, and because we have many years of experience. The bottom line is this: we care about two things - providing an exceptional level of service and appropriate equipment to maintain peoples’ independence, allowing them to remain at home; and providing the best solution for our social service, NHS and national charity clients, freeing them to focus on other areas safe in the knowledge that they have the most professional loan equipment solution possible.
Because of our skills and experience, Medequip is in an ideal position to assist Commissioners and their teams develop solutions for the Transforming Community Equipment Services initiative. The TCES team recognise that there is no single model that will fit every Local Authority or PCT, and that local implementations will differ. Our flexibility, service innovation and class-leading software tools mean that we can help with innovative solutions to the implementation challenge.
